The Swedish Society for Medical Research announces yearly stipends for postdoctoral medical research, aiming at a 'docent-kompetens'. In addition half-time stipends for clinicians are also made available for application at the same time.
The stipends amount to SEK 22,000 (full time) a month and SEK 15.000 (half time) paid quarterly in advance during two years. The stipends for clinicians are awarded for a two-year period, half-time. The recipient must report the results of his/her research to SSMF at the end of each year. To be entitled to further stipendiary support, this report should be sent to SSMF at the end of the first year. Also, a final report must be submitted within one month after termination of the stipend.
Qualified for stipends are students with a PhD-degree (obtained before Feb. 1 the following year and not older than three years) within a pre-clinical or clinical discipline at a medical faculty or the like.
A well-reputed work as guest scientist at a university in Sweden or abroad is considered a special merit.
The research can be practised at the applicant's own institution or at any other university, local or abroad, of free choice.
To be eligible for stipend, the Applicant must have been active in research in Sweden for a minimum of two years, and have the long-term goal of establishing research activity in this country.
The website for applications will be open from October 15 at: www.ssmf.se. The deadline is November 15 at 12.00 p.m. (24.00 hours). The system will then be closed and no more applications can be registered.
Paper copies of the application must be sent to SSMF by regular mail in one complete set , stapled together. A copy of the dissertation protocol or diploma should be enclosed as well as a certificate from the Department which certifies that the applicant will be given necessary lab space and basic equipment needed for the project.
Paper copies must be received by SSMF on November 21 at the latest.
Incomplete applications will not be considered.

To receive a stipend the applicant is expected to locate his/her future research in Sweden.
